Entrepreneurial Behavior and Mindset - BSE 1D

This course introduces the fundamentals of entrepreneurship that deals with the role of entrepreneurship in economic development.  Topics on Filipino entrepreneurial economy, entrepreneurial motivation, government assistance and programs for entrepreneurs, development and growth theories and applications are included.  Relevant topic such as business concepts and models, social responsibility, franchising as well as e-commerce in the Philippine setting shall also be discussed.

This course which will teach students to prepare a complete and effective Business Plan that can be adapted to a business. Areas covered in the Business Plan include business research process, idea generation, and implementation. The course will also add elements of Social Entrepreneurship and its concepts.  At the end of semester, the students should be able to prepare a business plan covering the features of a feasibility study and a business plan including marketing, operations, personnel and financial plan. Requirements in manufacturing and services sectors will be differentiated.

Production and Operations Management (TQM)-BSE3C

Production and Operations Management (TQM) course  will introduce the various elements and relevant concepts in Production and Operations Management. It will also present some of the POM tools that can be applied to a wide variety of situations. This course will provide an integrated framework for understanding the field as a whole. By the end of the course, the student should be able to understand and appreciate POM; know its importance in the success of the business; and learn the major POM concepts, quantitative tools, and techniques that are used in tactical and strategic decisions.

The goal of this course focus on learning MS Office software applications including intermediate word processing, spreadsheets,  and presentation graphics using a case study approach where critical thinking and problem solving skills are required. Computer concepts are integrated throughout the course to provide an understanding of the basics of computing, the latest technological advances and how they are used in industry. Ethics and issues encountered in business are discussed to challenge students on societal impact of technology.
