Business Plan Preparation for BSE3A

This course which will teach students to prepare a complete and effective Business Plan that can be adapted to a business. Areas covered in the Business Plan include business research process, idea generation, and implementation. The course will also add elements of Social Entrepreneurship and its concepts.  At the end of semester, the students should be able to prepare a business plan covering the features of a feasibility study and a business plan including marketing, operations, personnel and financial plan. Requirements in manufacturing and services sectors will be differentiated. A comprehensive marketing plan of a particular project shall be expected as a major output required by the course.

Production and Operations Management (TQM) for BSE3A

 

This will introduce the various elements and relevant concepts in Production and Operations Management. It will also present some of the POM tools that can be applied to a wide variety of situations. This course will provide an integrated framework for understanding the field as a whole. By the end of the course, the student should be able to understand and appreciate POM; know its importance in the success of the business; and learn the major POM concepts, quantitative tools, and techniques that are used in tactical and strategic decisions.

OPPORTUNITY SEEKING - BSE 2C

The course introduces to the student the needs of society, and how to actively seek answers to these needs in the form of new products or services, to quantify the risks of offering these products or services to the market, and to evaluate the resulting projects in terms of societal priorities and the wellbeing of the larger community. The student builds on the underlying principle that he should seek to generate a fair return by meeting the needs of his customers, rather than emphasizing purely on his own interests and concerns.

Particular emphasis will be given to the study of management functions like planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, and orient the students on the importance of these functions and the role of each area in entrepreneurship.

This course provides an overview of the environment, concepts, and basic differences involved in international business. Topics include forms of foreign involvement, international trade theory, governmental influences on trade and strategies, international organizations, multinational corporations, personnel management, and international marketing. Upon completion, students should be able to describe the foundation of international business.

This course examines the role of the human resource professional as a strategic partner in managing today’s organizations. Key functions such as recruitment, selection, development, appraisal, retention, compensation, and labor relations are examined. Implications of legal and global environments are appraised and current issues such as diversity training, sexual harassment policies, and rising benefit costs are analyzed. Best practices of employers of choice are considered.
